Cyrus Colby lived at this house and farmed the land along the hillside of the Woodhill Hookestt Road. The Colby family had a successfule family farm which included cornfields and grazing fields for their livestock. The barn across the road was constructed in 1882 as evidenced by engravings on the floorboards. The barn features a metal track for moving hay and has tru-bolted gunstock style posts. The Colbys even used metal panels from old railroad cars to make metal roofing for he barn . Across the road from the barn stands the blacksmith shop which retains the original forge and hand operated bellows.
